Biography:
Greyhaven began in late 1996 when Ethan Matthews and Nate Howard began meeting and doing some very basic songwriting on guitars. A few weeks later, Nate brought in his friend and bandmate, Nick Cipriano to add some drums to the mix. The trio then began some serious jamming and songwriting sessions and dubbed themselves "Greyhaven". By June of 1997, Greyhaven had enough material to record a half hour instrumental demo. The demo was completed that Summer and contained two songs, "Downfall" and the 21 minute long epic "Vessel". By this time, Greyhaven had cemented their trademark sound with Ethan moving more to keyboards and Nate conquering the guitars. The demo received rave reviews around the world. This very encouraging response inspired another six months of songwriting for Greyhaven's debut album. However, Greyhaven was not yet complete. The issue of a needing a vocalist was prevalent with the band throughout the writing seesions and the songs were written with vocals in mind. Recording for the album began in February of 1998 and lasted through the end of the Summer. During this time, Greyhaven searched in vain for a throat-master to complete their lineup. After many auditions of local guys, Greyhaven was introduced to a vocalist in Chico, California by the name of Brian Francis, thanks to Matt Guillory of Dali's Dilemma. After hearing the demo tapes of Brian's previous work, Brian was immediately added to Greyhaven's lineup. The new four piece group finished all the basic tracks for the new album by the end of the Summer '98. Over the next year, the group finished up the album tracking and mixing while attending school. Greyhaven finished recording their first album, simply called "Greyhaven", in June of 1999. Immediately after, the group began work on their next album while searching for the right label to release their completed debut. A very successful Summer resulted in over and hour and a half of new new music. Also during this time, guitarist Nate Howard left Greyhaven over creative differences. Greyhaven wishes Nate all the best in his future endeavors. A trio once more, Greyhaven continued writing new material through the Fall of 1999. The band also secured a deal with Angular Records of Germany to release their first album. Release of this album is scheduled for March of 2000 and it will available worldwide. Greyhaven plans to enter the studio again late this year to record the second album. Before this happens Greyhaven will be promoting their first album with live shows and a possible tour. Greyhaven would like to acknowledge the fans without whom none of their success would be possible. More to come as it happens.........
