Welcome to the web-presence of our work.
IONS is a collaboration between two average blokes who used to be in Greyhaven.
It is sweeping, undulating work in the progressive vein - we hope you like
it. |
The entire website is located upon this single page - which is just part
of our oft followed 'hmm factor.' As such, it will transform and grow as time goes on. |

06/11/04 Sound files are back up! Plus, soon the "Other Clips" section will have files added. PS: how many years has this project been going? hmmm. 03/15/04 A change in web hosts has required that I take down the sound files for now, but they'll be back up soon. 02/24/04 A more simplified website, here. Changes will occur as they occur. Until then, we hope you enjoy the Song Clips! 02/10/04 Check out the new colors! There's also a completely revised and updated Sound Files section (Audiomedia). You may have noticed that some sound files have changed names. Expect this! 'Ocean Bright' has now become 'Morhpos'; 'Radiance' has become 'Beneath My Feet'; and 'Calm' has become 'Away'. 01/26/04 Well I've finally recovered from the New Year's Festivities, and can consider getting back to work on this stuff. Nick flew into Portland and helped the music to go in a new direction. Basically, that means that many of the tunes are going back to the drawing board for a phase of re-composition. It's gonna take more time, but we think the music's going to be MUCH better. So there. Sorry, but you'll thank us later! 11/17/03 Good Cosmic Gods Man! It's time for yet another (seemingly) Tri-annual update! The work continues. there are 2 new songs in the works: Stars Also Die and Black Ocean Spiral. We shall attempt to get some soundfiles up shortly. Also, you may have noticed that the "A Way" tracks have been renamed "Radiance", and the opening track "Walking Out" has been renamed "Orca". Why, you query? No reason really. In fact they might change back - or even change to something else entirely. After all, change is the only thing you can count on - it is the only reality that exists. 'Nuff said about that. So, to continue the rambling, Scott, Nick and I are planning to get together around New Year's Eve to jam through a bunch of material. We've been writing and working back-n-forth long distance, so we're looking forward to finally hammering away at the stone with real hammers! (as it were). Then, very much hopefully, we'll begin tracking in the spring. Wish us luck! (Oh and wish us money too, that never hurts) 06/17/03 Well, guess what? We have been seriously remiss in updating our doings (as if you hadn't known). Well here's the skinny: After a substantial hiatus wherein we have individually been experiencing life's many labors, many new developments have emerged from the recent sea of non-accomplishment. Firstly, Brian will soon be moving to Portland Oregon, a decision based upon his desire to 'add more struggle to his life.' (what a moron). Besides the obvious (to some of you) pile of downsides to this, there is (believe it or not) a bright underbelly: Namely that this move should offer to you, the loyal listener, through Brian's musical musings, a new suite of noisy fluffles and experiments. Ofcourse, all this will happen after much of the other work is complete, but it will be on it's way - or Brian will self-implode (either way should be interesting). Nick is still living and working in Manhattan. Look for his Halloween project led by none other than the incomparable Dee Snider, due out later this year. Scott will be staying in San Diego for the time being. While this certainly throws a kink in the gears of progress, it is by no means the end. We still look forward to his input and guitarry skills. </end update> 08/30/02 Somehow, we managed to find the time to get some better sounding mp3's of the Orca work up. Remember, these are demo tracks just to give y'all a taste of what's comin'. Hope you enjoy them! 08/28/02 Well now. Brian just got back from New York. Drums for the Solitary Dream portion of the CD are pretty much composed. Next: Orca Drums + a re-visit of the whole thing (guits, vocs, keys, and sfx). We are now enlisting the aid of a long time friend, Scott Slaten for miscellaneous brain-pickings and guitar expertise. We're looking forward with great anticipation to Scott's influence on the music. It should make for a great live show! The next month will be pretty dead as life intrudes on the music making yet again, but rest assured, this monster will rear it ugly head for sure! 07/24/02 As promised, some soundfiles are here. Check 'em out. There a bit small (being forced to use a demo version of a converter, longer ones to come this weekend). I've also been wondering if anyone would like to hear full versions of songs posted. If you ask for 'em, I'll put 'em up! In other news, tracks have been sent to Nick so he can begin the process of putting drums & percussion down, so as soon as newer mixes are done, I'll post them. Looking ahead to the future, a releasable date for this album looks about November-December but we'll see - you know how musicians are! 07/17/02 Some preliminary scratch mixes of the ORCA material have been completed. Sound files will be posted in a few days. Also, I apologize for the site outage, I'm now actually having to juggle two web hosts in order to stay up. What a pain in me arse! 06/10/02 The ORCA sound files are taking a bit longer due to some frantic re-composition. Sometimes, you just gotta throw out the junk! They will probably be posted in increments as they get completed. Keep checking back. 05/22/02 05.20.2002 |

OTHER CLIPS IN THE WORKS (tba): |
Life continued, and
the tunes lay dormant, save for their hearing in a few strategically
placed CD players situated about the country. Another jaunt across the
U.S.A. and Brian found himself back in California pursuing the woman
of his dreams - among other things. A holiday visit by Greyhaven's former
drummer, In early 2003 Brian had again been visited by the muse. This time, he planned to add to the previous stuff a bunch of new stuff, and then put all the stuff on a stuffed CD release. But as often happens, life intervenes to shake up the mix. Late 2003 saw Brian moving from Southern California to the Pacific Northwest. This move had, and continues to have, a profound effect on Brian and the compositions. So the work continues while life's losses, trials, and loves come and go. Working, re-working, exploring, and discarding. Nick is currently in New York, working at BeatStreet Productions. Scott's in San Diego, dousing fires. Brian is now living it up in Portland, Oregon. yep. |
